19.04.2013 Latest trends in breeding bird numbers show that 2/3 of all internationally monitored species breeding in the Wadden Sea have declining numbers. The trend over the past ten years even indicates that the rate of decline has recently accelerated, e.g. in species like Oystercatcher, Avocet, and Arctic Tern. Breeding birds like Ruff, Dunlin and Common Snipe are now on the brink of extinction. If the current negative trends continue, more species are threatened to disappear from the Wadden Sea. e.g. Hen Harrier.
19.04.2013 UNESCO The goal of more intensive cooperation brought together 25 experts from four European marine World Heritage Sites to the National Park Administration, Tönning, on 15 and 16 April.
05.03.2013 UNESCO The International Graduate School: Heritage Studies at Cottbus University is offering under the direction of the UNESCO Chair in Heritage Studies its second International Summer Academy Cottbus: Understanding Heritage (ISAC) under the title “The Theoretical Understanding of Sustainability in Heritage Studies and its Corresponding Disciplines”.

18.02.2013 On 7 February, international film stars Clive Owen and Jacques Perrin gave their support to Marine World Heritage: The Crown Jewels of the Ocean, at a special event dedicated to marine site preservation at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. A short film on marine sites, narrated by Mr Perrin, was also shown.
29.01.2013 On January, 25th the Danish representative at the UNESCO Ambassador Poul Erik Dam Kristensen submitted the nomination for the inscription of the Danish Wadden Sea on the World Heritage List to the Director of the World Heritage Centre, Kishore Rao.
